Chromecast is not the only device that can utilize the ability of an Android device to cast videos from Android phones with apps like Showbox. You see, video entertainment on a cellphone is good for some specific situations. But it is still best to watch your favorite movie or TV show from Showbox on a big screen using Chromecast. So what if we tell you of a way to watch Showbox on TV without Chromecast?
That feat is possible and doable on some
certain devices and situations. For those less exposed to modern technology,
Chromecast is not the only way to cast active display from an Android handset
to a TV. And that means watching Showbox on TV without Chromecast.
Currently, there are some dozen workarounds to
casting display to a TV. And that is what we are going to talk about in this
article. We will tell you some of the easiest and probably already available
tools and apps around you. You would be surprised on one or two of what we are
going to discuss in this article.
You are probably too curious by now. So we will go straight to those methods that we are talking about. Here are the ways to watch Showbox on TV without Chromecast.
How to Watch Showbox on TV
We have prepared at least three ways to watch Showbox on TV without Chromecast. We could list more, but that would take a longer article. Also, most of it is probably not available in your house or not even available in the electronic store near you.
Anyway, here are some ways you can choose from.
The DLNA or Digital Living Networking Alliance
is a technology founded in the year 2003. This was a collaboration of various
consumer electronics companies. The idea was to make electronic devices such as
mobile phones, TVs, PCs, laptops, tablets, and even storage servers to gain
interoperability for sharing digital media.
Now, a lot of TV sets especially those that
are released since the year 2010 has DLNA built into them. And since the
majority of smartphones nowadays have DLNA certification such as Miracast and
other forms of Google cast devices, it is likely that you can connect your
mobile phone with your TV device.
To find out if your TV supports this
technology, see if you can find a sticker with the DLNA logo attached on it
somewhere around the body. Another possibility that your TV supports DLNA is if
it can connect to a WiFi without the need for an external WiFi dongle. Or if
your TV has LAN port, it could also mean that your TV has DLNA or similar
technology is available in it.
The third way is to check your TV’s settings.
Turn on the TV. On the remote control, launch the main menu or Settings. Find
the menu that says something about a network or connectivity. If you find an
option about “Search Device” through the network functionality that could mean
that your TV supports casting.
To do this, here’s a general guide to help you
out. Remember that every TV or device has a different setup, so we decided to
use a generic type of instruction instead.
Step 1. First, you need to activate the Cast on your mobile phone and the one on the TV.
Step 2. If they detect each other, then you should find the device name on the scan result.
Step 3. Just tap on the device from the scanned result, and it should prompt you about a pin or password before establishing the connection.
Step 4. Once done, your smartphone’s display will immediately appear on the TV.
Step 5. You should be able to navigate through the TV’s display using your smartphone as the touchpad.
#2. Tubio App
The Tubio app is available in Google Play
Store and can function on various wireless connectivity including the
Chromecast and Apple TV. The best part about this app is you can get it for
free. If you do not mind the ads, then this app is one of the best casting apps
available on Play Store.
The operation of this app is pretty simple.
Here’s a brief guide if you want one.
#1.On your phone, open the Google Play Store.
#2. On the search bar, type in the Tubio and hit search.
#3. When you see the Tubio app, tap on “Install.”
#4. Wait until the installation finishes. When it does, tap on “Open.
#5. At the bottom of the Tubio screen, you will find a TV-shaped icon. Tap on it to scan for casting-supported devices.
#6. After a few seconds, your supported TV should appear on the list. When it does, click on the name of the TV.
#7. Follow the prompt if it asks for pin or confirmation.
#8. That’s it. Your Android screen should now appear on the TV. You may now launch the Showbox app and watch your favorite movies and TV shows available on Showbox app.
Aside from the first too easy methods to watch
Showbox on TV without Chromecast, there are other devices that support this
kind of technology or have similar functionality. If you have these devices,
you can cast your mobile phone display on your TV.
- Amazon Firestick or Fire TV Stick
- Apple TV Airplay
- Roku Streaming TV & Media
- Micro-USB adapter with HDMI port
on the other end.
- Xbox One and Xbox 360
- AllShare enabled smart TVs
- Routers with support to DLNA and
mirroring (ASUS, Huawei, Hitron)
Those examples are just some of the ones that I have tried. Perhaps there are even more devices and similar form of technology that you can use to cast Showbox on TV without Chromecast. And actually you may can also steam other media apps like Mobdro and Kodi with the above mentioned methods.
